MEETING MINUTES June 20, 2002 |
CALL TO ORDER
Eric Tolles, President, called the June Chapter Meeting to order at 11:30 a.m.
Pledge of Allegiance.
INTRODUCTIONS
The meeting began with self-introductions of members and visitors.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer's report given by Faisal Jurdi.
CITY CORNER
Kevin Shear, City of Ontario, gave a report on building activity in Ontario. He announced that there is approximately $350 million worth of construction being built or in the pipeline in the City of Ontario. Most of the activity is in large commercial construction projects such as distribution centers.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Jay Elbettar, City of Newport Beach, Chairman of the Code Uniformity Committee, gave a short report on the work of the Committee and will present the recommendations of the Committee at the July meeting.
Mike Hudson, City of Buena Park, Chairman of the Education Committee, gave a report of the Committee and upcoming programs. He announced that an electrical seminar would be held in the City of Orange on June 26, and would feature Russ
Helmick, Chief Electrical Inspector of the City of Irvine.
Jim Martin, City of Garden Grove, Chairman of the Alternative Methods and Materials/Performance Based Committee, addressed the members concerning the subject of alternative materials and methods of construction and gave a short dissertation as to why the membership should support a letter that he circulated on the subject. President Tolles asked for a vote of the membership at the next meeting.
Ray Schuller, City of Laguna
Niguel, gave a report of what is happening in the ICBO/ICC and discussed some communication he had with Gaddis Farmer, City of Simi Valley, member of the ICBO Board, urging members to apply for Committees for adoption of codes, and other committees in which they may have interest.
President Tolles, remarked that CALBO and the CALBO Training Institute would be meeting at Irvine City Hall at 10:00 a.m. on July 26 for a Regional Meeting and urged members to attend and provide a good representation by the membership.
Discussion of the limitation in the Mechanical Code concerning the dryer venting of a maximum of 14 feet with two elbows and alternatives that may be allowed by Building Officials.
PROGRAM
Chris Compton, County of Orange, Planning and Development Department/Environmental Resources
Report on the requirements of the new NPDES permits applicable to the County.
ADJOURNMENT
President Tolles adjourned the meeting at 2:00 p.m.
