CALL TO ORDER

TREASURER’S REPORT
Treasurer’s report given by Faisal Jurdi.

OLD BUSINESS
Jay Elbettar, City of Newport Beach, Eric Tolles, City of Irvine, and Laura Blaul, Deputy Fire Marshal, Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), announced that they met with the Orange County Chapter of the Building Industry Association prior to the Chapter meeting to review the Chapter’s Code Uniformity Committee’s recommendations and OCFA’s proposed amendments to the 2001 edition of the California Building Code.
NEW BUSINESS
Jim Martin, City of Garden Grove made a motion for the support of Gaddis Farmer, City of Simi Valley, for the Board of Directors of the ICC by the Chapter. The motion was seconded by Howard Larnard, City of Fountain Valley, and received unanimous approval of the members. President Tolles agree to write a letter of support from the Chapter.
REPORTS
The County of Orange gave a report on outdoor fireplaces and led a discussion of how to prevent damage to dwellings in the near vicinity of the flues and the need to make sure they were equipped with spark arrestors.
Laura Blaul also introduced the new Fire Protection Engineer of OCFA who is responsible for Code Adoption.
Julie Seay, City of Anaheim, distributed agendas for the CALBO meeting to be held at the Anaheim Hilton and urged all members of the Chapter to attend, especially the Friday business sessions.
A discussion was held concerning an ER Report on Aquapex Pipe for hot and cold water distribution.
An article was distributed to the members and a discussion followed concerning the differences between the NFPA and the ICCEC processes.
PROGRAM
ICBO / ICC Update
Gaddis Farmer, Building Official, City of Simi Valley ICBO Board of Directors
Gaddis Farmer gave a background of his career and stated that the jurisdiction he represents has given him backing in his quest to be elected to the Board.
Gaddis Farmer gave a report on the upcoming Annual Business Meeting (ABM) in Fort Worth, Texas, and invited anyone attending the ABM to meet with him and other members of the Board to ask any questions they may have during the meeting.
