Collapse of the World Trade Center - Lessons Learned Seminar

Sponsored & Presented By:
City of Rancho Cucamonga, Rancho Cucamonga Fire & Police Departments and Freedom’s Flame Foundation (a non-profit charitable foundation established to build twin bi-coastal 9/11 Memorials)
____________________________________

Joe Torrillo, a 24-year-veteran of the New York City Fire Department and Structural Engineer, will give attendees an inside look at the devastating attacks on the World Trade Center and the collapse of the Twin Towers. But, this is no ordinary lecture on structural engineering feats.  You see, for 15 years, Joe was assigned to Engine Company 10, a mere 200 feet away from the south tower.  He developed an affection and deep understanding of the Twin Towers support structure which was further enhanced from his college days as a structural engineering student at New York City Technical College.

Audiences are riveted by his personal survivor story where he helps interested attendees better understand the incidents of that tragic day.  During this seminar, Joe will explain in ordinary terms the history and concept of the World Trade Center, and the events that led to its demise.  He will explain its structural support and fire protection systems while unveiling some of the mysteries of what seem like a complex issue in regards to the massive loss of life in high-rise structures.

The seminar will be held on Monday, September 11, 2006 from 10 – 11:30 am at the Central Park Community Center, located at 11200 Baseline Road in Rancho Cucamonga.  The seminar is offered at no charge, but seating is limited and must be reserved.  If you are interested in attending this seminar, please contact the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District at (909) 477-2770 to reserve your seat.

Who Should Attend
Structural engineers, building officials and inspectors, plans examiners, fire personnel, law enforcement personnel, emergency responders, public works inspectors, public safety, city planners, etc.
